We checked in with the hostess and she told us to give them about 10 more minutes to finish preparing our table. Huge front porch with some seats to wait for your reservation to be called. Nice outside deck to dine if the weather permits. Excellent choice! Cool vibe from the moment you park and walk in. We were visiting friends in Banner Elk and they wanted to go here for our farewell dinner. The issue is, there isn't a lot of "elsewhere" in Banner Elk so.enjoy it for what it is and don't be disappointed!Īmazing experience! Food, service, ambience were all outstanding!! ![]() If you're looking for something higher end (or if you're looking for a modestly priced vacation meal), look elsewhere. Our waiter was attentive and polite, and we left full. I give 4 stars because we had a good dining experience overall. At Stonewall's, I found myself wanting to cap at $20, which meant either pasta (without meat) or a sandwich. If you get a cocktail, you're looking at $12 minimum. To me, it was no better or worse than Ruby Tuesday's. ![]() The salad bar, for example, is touted as one of their great signature features. I just felt it was on par with a lot of chain restaurants/steakhouses that cost less. You pay for "the experience" in tourist areas, I get that. Nice ambiance, though lots of people were dressed casually? Seemed to contradict all these reviews where people felt "underdressed." My husband and I agreed afterward that it was overpriced. Generally, everyone in our party was pleased with the choice. Went here on family vacation for my father in law's birthday dinner. I would be more adventurous with my meal next time, as the chefs specials we saw come out looked amazing. I ordered shrimp skewers which were not very flavorful, but we live at the beach- I should have known better. My husband's steak was to his desired temperature, and she made sure to ask. We had the chicken and waffle appetizer and it was enough for 4! The spicy syrup was delicious and the chicken crispy. I went with her suggestion and was pleased. I was between which Chardonnay to order and she offered to bring 3 to taste. Her knowledge of the menu was very helpful. She offered suggestions to make this a great dining experience. I had questions literally about everything and she knew the answers immediately, such as "is there onion in the crab cake?" and she went into full detail on what to expect with the shrimp and lobster bisque (a true bisque, no lump meat). Anne, our server, was probably the best server we have ever had. We dined here tonight for the first time since Stonewalls had changed owners and had a really excellent experience. We also saw a number of cakes sent to tables which looked amazing! Next time we may cut back on first course items so we have more room! The manager said the chef makes homemade ice cream flights. We really wanted yo try the deserts but ate way too much. ![]() They were all cooked perfectly! Seasoned to perfection. The bettered cheese bites were amazing! Really good dill ranch dressing to pair with them.įor our mains, my son had the center cut sirloin and my husband and I had filets. The fried egg white was a bit harder and warm so it wasn't our favorite but good nonetheless. The deviled eggs were good but we all agreed we like regular deviled eggs better. We started with fried deviled eggs and beer battered cheese. The house wine was good (wish it was a few degrees cooler though). The bread that comes out while you wait was really good! I mean really good (or we were just really hungry?). Our server was nice but did spill water on the table and was not as attentive as expected in a restaurant that charged 22-70 a meal. Told my son happy birthday and took us to our table. OMG!!!ĭon't get stuck, there are plenty of other places in town which are amazing.Walked in and the woman at the front knew which reservation we were checking in for. The service was much to be desired as I was asked if I wanted a Coke to go and she never brought it after I paid the bill. Nevertheless, don't waste your money, you might as well go to the big M and your meal would have been an upgrade. Several people ordered the salmon, which you would probably think why go to the mountains and ski to order salmon. My friends ordered a Bloody Mary which was awful and had to be sent back. I remember an episode of Restaurant Impossible where the cook for that place, used a microwave and everything came out of a box or a bag.Īs soon as we sat down, we were informed of the items that they did not have from the menu, which excluded 1/2 of the menu. One of my friends looked on another site which had good reviews for Nicks. We went to this establishment over Valentine's weekend with several work friends, 2016. ![]()
